This is the most updated list of our series "The strongest characters in Fairy Tail". Characters are ranked in their prime (Makarov, Ultear etc.) therefore they are not necessarily ranked from their abilities and feats shown in their latest arc.
Please note that characters with unknown abilities and feats are not included in this list.
Also, only canon characters are taken into account.

From a boy who is scared of his own magic, Elfman became a real man who would protect his family no matter what. Some people see him as the cause for Fairy Tail to disband but we overlook that as he did show how apologetic he was. Currently, this gym lad is kicking ass in Fiore.

74. "The Great Sky" Aria

Aria's magic power was quite high, but he still got his ass whooped by Erza and Makarov. His whereabouts are unknown but it would be good for him and Jose to make a comeback.

The most annoying man in FT, Ichiya still impressed when he defeated Bacchus with his surprising physical strength.

Dragon Force Wendy honestly did not look that strong, and Ezel just had to make himself look like a pussy. The weakest of the 9 demons, everyone was disappointed to see his comeback through Neinhart in the Alvarez arc.

One of the best hand to hand combatants in Fairy Tail, Bacchus was actually pretty disappointing in GMG. He got defeated by Elfman, Ichiya, and Sting. But in all fairness, Bacchus wasn't as intoxicated as he should have been when he got ousted by Ichiya and Sting. Hopefully he fulfills his potential someday.

69. Wendy "Sky Sorceress" Marvell

Due to her newly acquired Star Dress ability (which is extremely cool and useful), she now possesses physical strength, combat skills, and even marksmanship. At this rate, she could definitely be as powerful as her ancestor Anna.

Juvia shocked us when she defeated Keyes. It wasn't an easy battle, but we did not expect one of the weaker members of the main Fairy Tail team to defeat such a scary looking demon with such scary powers. Juvia definitely grew a lot and she would grow even more when Gray accepts her.

59. "Midnight" Macbeth

Is Arlock actually strong at all? Or is Natsu just so strong that Arlock looks so weak? We believe that Arlock is strong. I mean, he summoned a huge, powerful-looking God so his magic power should be somewhat great. Natsu just grew too strong under Gildarts' mentoring.

SS Class Wizards

55. "The Black Archbishop" Keyes

Just like Ezel and Franmalth, Keyes was pretty disappointing. Juvia was too durable for him and with all the powerful curses he had, he couldn't even defeat any Fairy Tail member. But if Keyes' corpses had been there to assist him, who knows what would have happened.

Rogue was even more disappointing than Bacchus in the GMG. He was overpowered by Natsu one day and Gajeel the other day. Let's hope to see what him and Sting are really made of.

52. Sting Eucliffe

The master of Sabertooth, Sting always seemed to be a tiny bit ahead of Rogue. But compared to Natsu and Gajeel, they are both quite weak. Potential wise, they have a lot, but at this rate the 1st gen Dragon Slayers will always be the strongest ones.

51. Jackal

A complete badass, Jackal killed everyone except for Mest in the Magic Council. His strength, speed, and magic power matched Natsu's, but unfortunately he had to be humiliated by Happy.

50. "Cobra" Erik

It's controversial to put Cobra in the top 50, because this means that he is the only Oracion Seis member other than Brain/Zero to have this honor. Ahead of the twin dragons and Midnight, Cobra earned this as he overwhelmed Natsu and wasn't injured by the Rock Dragon at all.

49. Jiemma

Jiemma really isn't that powerful. A muscular, scary looking guy, he was almost humiliated by Natsu. Even after he became demonic, Sting and Rogue defeated him.

If it wasn't for the friendship BS, Azuma would have probably been a bit higher on this list. A master combatant and extremely physically gifted, Azuma overwhelmed Erza and made Mira and Lisanna his toys.

Probably even stronger than Erza in terms of swordsmanship, Kagura also excels in many different fields. But her best moment so far, which is probably the best moment in all of FT, is that surprise kiss with Erza. That one really leaves us hanging.

Zero was such a badass when he intercepted Hibiki's telepathy. Highly intelligent, he was the one who led Ultear, Jellal, and many more down the dark path. He was a real evil, but Natsu still kicked his ass after a long battle.

Very physically gifted as our star system says so, Bluenote seemed to be at Gildarts and Laxus' level when we first saw him. But he got knocked out by Natsu quite easily in X792, so he actually isn't as strong to everyone's surprise.

She tortured Erza and took away her senses. This looked like a clear victory for Kyoka, but Erza showed her determination and combat skills to end Kyoka.

A demon and a user of all of the Tartarus members' magics, he was still on equal terms with Gajeel. Although he really should have killed him but Hiro pulled some BS.

25. "Winter General" Invel

Finally, we have someone from the Alvarez Empire who wasn't disappointing (well, compared to the previous ones Invel is definitely more satisfying)! His powerful ice spells overwhelmed Mavis and almost killed Juvia (once again, Hiro pulled some BS). But the thought of Juvia dying pissed Gray off so much that Gray, in all fairness, awakened his true devil slayer form and defeated Invel. Tough luck, Invel!
